Since its inception, Vic Mix has been an ongoing supporter of cancer research and treatment.
Recently, Vic Mix has become an official sponsor of Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA) in the support of women diagnosed with breast cancer.
About Breast Cancer Network Australia
Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA) is the peak national organisation for Australians personally affected by breast cancer. BCNA works to ensure women with breast cancer receive the very best support, information, treatment and care appropriate to their individual needs.
BCNA consists of a network of more than 100,000 members and 300 Member Groups. More than 90 per cent of our members have had a diagnosis of breast cancer, and the remaining members have had a personal experience with breast cancer through a family member or friend.
We are represented by the Pink Lady silhouette, symbolic of our focus on the women diagnosed with breast cancer and all those around her.
Incidence of Breast Cancer
Breast cancer is the most common cancer diagnosed in Australian women.
Everyday in Australia, over 40 women are diagnosed with breast cancer and 7 lose their fight against the disease. Though the numbers are far fewer, men are also diagnosed with breast cancer each year.
The number of women and men being diagnosed with breast cancer in Australia is increasing; however the number of deaths from breast cancer is decreasing. The risk of being diagnosed with breast cancer by age 85 is 1 in 8 for women and 1 in 838 for men.
Breast cancer can occur in younger women. It is estimated that 795 women between the ages of 20 and 39 were diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015. This accounts for 5% of all breast cancers diagnosed in Australia.
